Flower for Kids is an innovative program supported by flower growers, importers and florists from Ecuador, Columbia, the US and Canada.  A Flowers for Kids florist will come into a classroom (usually Grades 4 - 5) for a 45 minute presentation.

The Flowers for Kids project allows for a class learn about cut flowers, where they come from, how to care for them, and how to make a bouquet. Of course they also get to keep whatever they make - about $30 worth of fresh flowers per student to take home and give to their family or friends.

Representatives of Martin's, the Flower People will bring in buckets of Line flowers, Filler flowers, Focal flowers and greens. They will lead a discussion about where flowers come from, how they grow, why roses have thorns, feelings that go with flowers, caring for cut flowers and making bouquets. Then each child will choose the flowers and assemble their own bouquet and take them home.

The class is provided at no charge to the school or the children. Flowers for Kids wants to help kids appreciate and be comfortable with fresh flowers, and Martin's, the Flower People wants to encourage local kids to be comfortable in our shop.
