Valentine’s Day is overwhelmingly about roses. But often the roses tell a story.
A new husband asks for Circus roses – that’s what she carried for their wedding.
The older husband asks for pink – he has learned that that’s what she likes – but only six. They’ve been married “too long for a dozen!”
One customer very carefully chooses the exact number and colour of blooms in order to send a Victorian style message in flowers. He’d better be able to decode the message!
We often have people bring in vases or baskets that we can reuse for charitable donations. One lady brought a vase in today that didn’t even come from our shop. But she didn’t want to store it, so Michelle graciously took it, then offered her some roses in exchange.
The lady’s eyes welled up as she told Michelle that her husband had fallen ill recently and would not be able to give her roses for the first time this year. At least three beautiful soft pink Sophie roses will mark Valentine’s Day for her in her new circumstances. We wish her husband a complete and speedy recovery.
