Here is an arrangement we made recently that is rich in texture:

Protea, Roses and Dusty Miller
The flowers used are Pincushion protea, coral roses, Dusty Miller (the gray-green leaf) and grevillea (the thorny-looking leaf). The arrangement has all the attributes of good design: structure, balance, colour harmony, etc. but with an accent on texture. The Dusty Miller is soft to the touch – the grevillea is prickly! Even the rolled galax leaves add their shiny smoothness to the mix.
Here is a view from overhead:

Soft, prickly, smooth
This proves that monochromatic is not boring. Your eye is drawn in to explore… and if you were there, you know you would have to touch it!
