Once a year, the floral artists of CAFA put on a design show and induct new members. This year’s show was “A Tribute to All Things Canadian.”
Our Head Designer, Susan Wetheral, is a proud member of the Canadian Academy of Floral Art. She was part of a team that depicted Canadian Wine. Her first creation was a decorative collar. Here’s a photo, with our apologies for the poor lighting:
This is a hand-crafted scarf, gathered into ruffles, and decorated with grapevine, corks and artificial grapes. Susan added fresh red sweetheart roses, green hypericum and deep red Black Beauty roses. Then to frame the model’s face, she placed beautiful deep purple calla lilies. The tones are rich and fruity… making you thirsty?
Here’s another look at the collar:
Unfortunately, we don’t have a photo yet of the White Wine model. She moved too fast! We will add it later. It was a play on a corkscrew theme and very cool!
Here is Susan’s Ice Wine creation.
This looked so much nicer in real life than the photo can capture. Susan made furry ear muffs and decorated the band with fresh orchid blooms. The matching hand muff was an intricate layering of orchid petals. Sparkling icy bling trailed from the muff. Brrrr!
More photos to follow. So much work and creativity went into this show, and the results were amazing!
