Did you see those beautiful Medinilla plants at Canada Blooms? It’s a wonder there are any available now – so many were on display there.
Now that we’ve seen them, we have to have them. So Martin’s received our first shipment of Medinillas today. Here’s a beautiful shot:
The medinilla is native to Luzon, the Philippines. It has beautiful dark green leaves, and very unusual blooms. The blooms hang down on strong flexible stems. Here is a closeup of one bloom:
And a closer look:
The care of these plants is quite simple. They like to dry out between waterings, so don’t keep them damp. Between March and November, they want to be in a bright place, but not in direct sunlight. Through the winter, they need as much light as possible.
Although they originate in the Philippines, they are now grown in Ontario. So you can have an exotic, long-lasting, eye-catching plant… and support local growers as well!
Drop in and have a look. It’s not often we see something so new and different!
