Turquoise?
The colour of the year has been predicted by the Pantone Color Institute’s Leatrice Eiseman.
And it’s turquoise!
““In many cultures, turquoise occupies a very special position in the world of colour,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “it is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing, and a colour of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky. Through years of colour word-association studies, we also find that turquoise represents an escape to many–taking them to a tropical paradise that is pleasant and inviting, even if only a fantasy.”
Interesting. I’m all for blue sky and water right now on a cold December Toronto day. Maybe that’s why tropical flowers like Bird of Paradise and Ginger are popular in winter. Having them in the house reminds you of warm, sweet days in the Caribbean on that tropical vacation so long ago… that sure helps you endure the slush and the dark now.
Do you know someone who’s feeling blue? Well, send them some turquoise! Or some exotic, tropical flowers for a mental vacation break.
